Our school is a community primary co-educational day school catering for the needs of children between the ages of 3 and 11 years of age. It is situated to the west of Wigan on the border between Wigan Local Authority and Lancashire Local Authority.
Newfold Primary School is a single site school. There are presently four buildings on the site. The Key Stage 2 building, which dates from 1912, consists of a central hall around which there are eight classrooms, a library, a computer suite and learning support areas. This building contains the administration offices. An additional classroom was added in 2003 together with new toilet facilities. The school has a separate building used primarily for community based learning opportunities called ‘ourspace@122’.
The separate Key Stage 1 building was erected in 1968. It has a large hall off which there is a library and learning support areas. There are six classrooms and each room has its own cloakroom and toilet facilities. The hall is used as the school dining room and the meals are prepared in the adjoining kitchen.
Each building has a large hall where children have their assemblies and Physical Education. Each classroom has an interactive whiteboard and data projector. The school has extensive playing fields and enjoys many sporting facilities across the borough.
There is also a 60 place Day Nursery that was built in the Summer 2003. It has its own indoor and outdoor learning areas.
At present there are 476 children on the school roll including 58 part-time children in the Nursery Unit on site.
